New approach to generalized two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy. II: Eigenvalue manipulation transformation (EMT) for noise suppression

open access: yes, 2019
This paper introduces the concept of eigenvalue manipulating transformation (EMT) of a data matrix for noise suppression in two-dimensional (2D) correlation spectroscopy.

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Feshbach spectroscopy of an ultracold Rb-Cs mixture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis reports the observation of interspecies Feshbach resonances in an ultracold mixture of Rb and Cs atoms. A versatile combined magnetic and optical potential has been designed and constructed which is capable of bringing both $^{87}\rm{Rb}$ and

Application of near infrared spectroscopy for detection of ground medicinal herbs

open access: yesJournal of hygienic engineering and design, 2018
Medicinal plants represent a rich source of biologically active compounds that could have a beneficial effect on human health and a wide range of medicinal plants can be found on the market today. Regular or in-line particle size measurement can be one of the ways to control the quality of certain products where medicinal plants are used as raw ...

Investigating the Effect of Inclination Angle and the Influence of Scan Parameters on the Appearance and Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Filigree Tension Rods of LPBF‐Manufactured NiTi Shape‐Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

Self‐Cleaning Sensor Surfaces for Long‐Term Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Long‐term use of unattended outdoor sensors without soiling or biofouling is achieved through generation of a micro‐ and nanorough cuvette surface by combing hydrophobic nanoparticles with fluorinated polymers, crosslinked and surface‐attached through CHic chemistry. The coating demonstrates self‐cleaning behavior and prolonged outdoor stability, which

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...
