Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Measuring Ground Deformation Using Interferometry

open access: yes, 2022
The 2018 earthquake near Big Island, Hawaii caused landslides and ground deformation along the east coast. Ground deformation from seismic activity is of interest to scientists as it gives indications of volcanic activity below the Earth’s surface ...

Characteristics of deformation and defect of shield tunnel in coastal structured soil in China

open access: yesUnderground Space
Shield tunnel is a type of linear underground structure assembled by lining segments, characterized with long joint, weak stiffness, and strict deformation control requirement. The situation of the long-term deformation and defect of the shield tunnel in

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Elastoplastic finite element simulation of domino fault formation associated with tilting of highly structured ground

open access: yesSoils and Foundations
Ground deformation on the Earth’s surface layer is strongly affected by the nonlinearity of geomaterials. However, the formation process of such deformation has yet to be described in a unified manner based on mechanics.

Effects of ground-contacting gear on trail surface deformation from trampling

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges
Pedestrian traffic represents a significant factor contributing to soil surface erosion along trails. During mountain hiking, different types of ground-contacting gear, such as footwear and trekking poles, may have varying impacts on trail erosion. Utilizing recent advancements in three-dimensional (3D) topographic measurement, including structure-from-

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

The Cenozoic salt diapir near Eyvanekey and Garmsar, Iran : new insights from structural investigations and analogue modeling

open access: yes, 2011
The Alborz Mountains are forming a ~100 km wide, E-W trending mountain chain where individual summits are up to 5000 m in elevation. The Alborz Mountains range are part of the Alpine orogen and are straddling a 2000 km wide area S of the Caspian Sea. The

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...
