Ground temperature and climate change
2013Three studies are presented dealing with the relationship between ground temperatures, surface meteorological parameters, and different vegetation cover. These observations are related to borehole temperature profiles and the record they provide of climate change at the decadal to centennial time scale.

Estimation of ground surface temperatures from borehole temperature data
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1992To infer past climatic changes from temperatures measured in boreholes, one must obtain reliable estimates of ground surface temperature (GST) histories from these data. This paper presents a method that uses a Bayesian inverse technique to estimate the GST in the Fourier frequency domain.

Meteorite temperature measurements during ground testing
IcarusGround testing meteorite samples offer in-situ measurements of known materials in conditions that occur during entry into Earth's atmosphere. 22 meteorite samples with a wide range of origins and classifications were tested in the plasma wind tunnel facility PWK1 at the Institute of Space Systems in Stuttgart. These tests recreate the flow condition of

Undisturbed Ground Temperature in Urban Environment
2021Undisturbed ground temperature is important design parameter for borehole heat exchangers in ground coupled heat pump systems. Ground temperature is commonly determined as an average value based on the measured temperature of circulating fluid in the borehole prior to the thermal response test.

Passive Techniques for Ground Temperature Control
2004Passive techniques for ground temperature control require no power to operate and have no moving mechanical parts. They are widely used to solve cold regions foundations problems. There are five general classes of passive techniques: natural convection devices, thermal barriers, thermal sinks, elevated construction modes, and ground surface ...

Case Histories of Ground Temperature Effects
2004This chapter examines different case histories of ground temperature effects, which include the behavior of warm pipelines in permafrost, chilled pipelines in unfrozen ground, roads on permafrost, and the geothermal response of permafrost to superimposed buildings.
