Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Gravel-bed river morphodynamics and large wood dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
International audienceThe gravel-bed rivers of the Gaspé Peninsula, Québec (Canada), a coastal drainage system of the St. Lawrence estuary, receive and transport vast quantities of large wood. The rapid rate of channel shifting caused by high-energy flows

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Validation of a X-Ray densitometry method for the determination of Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla radial density profile [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The X-ray densitometry is considered one of the main non-destructive techniques for the analysis of wood due to the high precision and practicality. The method has been applied in determining the density of the wood, and the density variation is a result

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

PENGAWETAN BATANG AREN DENGAN BAHAN PENGAWET TIPE CCA, CCB, DAN BFCA

open access: yesJurnal Penelitian Hasil Hutan (Journal of Forest Products Research), 2017
Aren timbers are suspectible to wood detercrating agents especially when used in contact with ground and/or exposed to the weather. Therefore, proper treatment is neccessary to protect them from insects and decaying organisms.
