Gas migration at the granite–bentonite interface under semirigid boundary conditions in the context of high‐level radioactive waste disposal

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A series of water infiltration tests and gas permeability tests were conducted on granite and granite–bentonite samples. According to the results, the interfaces between granite and bentonite and the damaged granite were considered to be the preferentcial pathway for gas migration.

Impact of recent climate variability on an aquifer system in north Belgium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The last decade it has been realised that climate and global change can (and very likely will affect) groundwater reserves. This will have impact on both the economical (groundwater exploitation) and ecological (ecosystems) aspects of aquifer systems.

Control of Groundwater‐Lake Interaction Zone Structure on Spatial Variability of Lacustrine Groundwater Discharge in Oxbow Lake

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Lacustrine groundwater discharge (LGD) is an important water and nutrient source for lakes. Despite its importance, high‐resolution quantifying the spatial variability of LGD remains challenging.

Hotspots, trends, and regional focus on oil or gas exploration: A bibliometric comparative study

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This paper explores the research trends in global oil and gas exploration through the bibliometric analysis of 3460 articles collected from the Web of Science database on oil and gas exploration published from 2013 to 2023. The research hotspots, objects, regional distribution, methods, and evaluation methods of oil and gas exploration are analyzed and

A perspective review of applications of the computed tomography (CT) scan imaging technique for microscopic reservoir rock characterization

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this review, the application of micro‐CT and medical‐CT scanning in the oil and gas industry has been thoroughly discussed. Recent improvements in DRP and modern imaging techniques in the oil and gas industry have been modeled using both experimental and simulation work.

Form and load transfer aspects of foundation systems: Case‐based implementation and adaptation for buildings

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Upon conceptualization of structural behavior, foundations in terms of their form are divided into linear (1D), planar (2D), and volumetric (3D). Regarding the load transfer mechanisms, linear foundation systems are considered vector‐acting, planar foundations are divided into section and surface‐acting, and volumetric ones are recognized as block ...
