Semi‐analytical solution for the stability of deep vertical shaft considering time‐dependent rock‐structure interaction

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A novel cavity contraction solution and multilayer shaft wall model were developed to analyze deep shaft stability, considering rock viscosity, support structures, and water pressure, with successful validation through a Hulusu Coal Mine case study.

Critical technologies in the construction of underground artificial chamber for compressed air energy storage systems

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This schematic illustrates an artificial chamber‐based compressed air energy storage system. Excess electricity compresses air into sealed underground chambers. During demand peaks, pressurized air is heated, expanded, and drives turbines to generate power.

Investigation of damage impact on stability and airtightness of lined rock caverns for compressed air energy storage

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study developed a thermo‐hydro‐mechanical damage coupling model for the compressed air energy storage (CAES) cavern and investigated the impact of damage to the surrounding rock and lining concrete on the stability and airtightness of the CAES cavern.
