ABSTRACT Combining electrochemical and advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) has greatly mitigated the limitations of electrocoagulation (EC) in water treatment. This study examined the effectiveness of sonolysis (US)‐assisted alternating current (AC)–EC in reducing fluoride (F¯) from landfill leachate wastewater (LLW), with measurements of electrical ...

Groundwater dependent ecosystems – groundwater status indicators
Within the framework of »Water Management Plan for the Danube River Basin and the Adriatic Sea 2015-2021 (NUV II)«, a study on the groundwater status of karst aquifers which are habitats of groundwater dependent ecosystems (GDEs) was carried out. Among them are the habitats of olms (Proteus anguinus), the endemic species of Dinaric karst.

7000 Years of Aboriginal Mining at Sugarloaf Hill in the Riverland Region of South Australia
ABSTRACT Silcrete and chert are commonly represented in Aboriginal archaeological lithic assemblages across large parts of the southwestern Murray‐Darling Basin (MDB). In South Australia (SA), these materials were sourced from a series of quarries located along the incised course of the Murray River through the upper Riverland region.

Non-renewable groundwater use and groundwater depletion: a review
Abstract Population growth, economic development, and dietary changes have drastically increased the demand for food and water. The resulting expansion of irrigated agriculture into semi-arid areas with limited precipitation and surface water has greatly increased the dependence of irrigated crops on groundwater withdrawal.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an escalating global threat driven by antimicrobial use in aquaculture and livestock. Resistant pathogens and genes can spread across humans, animals, and the environment through interconnected ecosystems. Using a One Health approach, this review emphasizes antimicrobial stewardship, regulatory strengthening, enhanced ...

Efficient Model Calibration Using Submodels
Groundwater models tend to become increasingly detailed to accommodate increasing data availability and higher accuracy demands from stakeholders. As runtimes increase almost quadratically with the number of model cells, this makes the models ever more ...
