DISPERSIVE GROUNDWATER FLOW AND POLLUTION
Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 1991By solving asymptotically the Dirichlet problem for the backward Kolmogorov equation describing the random walk of a particle in a dispersive flow, it is computed at what rate contaminated particles cross the boundary of a protected zone. The method also yields an estimate of the expected arrival time.

Interfacing groundwater head and groundwater flow calculations
Environmental Software, 1990Abstract This paper presents an interface designed to combine two of the most common ways of groundwater modelling. First, a depth-averaged type of modelling is applied to determine the evolution in time of the phreatic groundwater level and the related piezometric head in the aquifers.

The general equation governing unconfined groundwater flow is a transient, three-dimensional partial differential equation with variable coefficients. As summarized in this chapter, for many problems the equation can be simplified such that the associated free space Green’s function is known.

Water in soil exists in a variety of forms, affects its engineering properties, and plays a very important role in all soil mechanics problems. The effects caused by the presence of water whether at rest or when moving through the pores of the soil must therefore be properly understood.
