Cutting Through the Green: A Case for Grassland Archaeology Using UAV Multispectral Data

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advances in low‐altitude remote sensing are needed to improve the effectiveness of archaeological prospection in the Netherlands. The geomorphological situation and land use history make applying various remote sensing and geophysical technologies particularly challenging.

Spatiotemporal Variation of Groundwater Nitrate Concentration Controlled by Groundwater Flow in a Large Basin: Evidence From Multi‐Isotopes (15N, 11B, 18O, and 2H)

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Elevated and increasing NO3− concentration in groundwater affect groundwater supplies in China and elsewhere. However, how groundwater flow affects NO3− concentration in groundwater has yet to be fully understood.

Effect of groundwater dynamics in rain-induced landslides: centrifuge and numerical study

open access: yesSoils and Foundations
Landslides are a multifaceted phenomenon triggered by rainfall infiltration as a consequence of the decrease in effective stress upon the development of porewater pressure. Although many studies concentrated only on rainfall infiltration as the source of

Brain Health for Children

open access: yesBrain Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The World Health Organization (WHO) defines brain health as the maintenance of optimal brain integrity, good mental state, and cognitive function without significant neuropsychiatric disease. Early childhood is a critical period for brain development, which were influenced by early experiences, nutrition, and environmental factors. Disruptions

A review of the historic and present ecological role of aquatic and shoreline wood, from forest to deep sea

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ecology of forests, their losses, and terrestrial wood decomposition dynamics have been intensively studied and reviewed. In the aquatic realm, reviews have concentrated on large wood (LW) in rivers and the transition from freshwater to marine environments in the Pacific Northwest of North America. However, a comprehensive global synthesis

First field application of temperature sensor modules for groundwater flow detection near borehole heat exchanger

open access: yesGeothermal Energy, 2019
Here, we present the first application of a temperature sensor module (TSM) for deducing groundwater flow velocity and direction at borehole heat exchangers (BHEs). The TSM maps the horizontal temperature distribution around a BHE.
