Using 14C and 3H to understand groundwater flow and recharge in an aquifer window [PDF]
Knowledge of groundwater residence times and recharge locations is vital to the sustainable management of groundwater resources. Here we investigate groundwater residence times and patterns of recharge in the Gellibrand Valley, southeast Australia, where

Multi-scale Digital Twin: Developing a fast and physics-informed surrogate model for groundwater contamination with uncertain climate models [PDF]
Soil and groundwater contamination is a pervasive problem at thousands of locations across the world. Contaminated sites often require decades to remediate or to monitor natural attenuation. Climate change exacerbates the long-term site management problem because extreme precipitation and/or shifts in precipitation/evapotranspiration regimes could re ...

The interaction between groundwater and urban environments is a growing concern for many rapidly urbanizing cities around the world, affecting both recharge and flow, since impervious surfaces reduce infiltration by increasing runoff, whereas over ...

One million year old groundwater in the Sahara revealed by krypton-81 and chlorine-36 [PDF]
Measurements of 81Kr/Kr in deep groundwater from the Nubian Aquifer (Egypt) were performed by a new laser-based atom-counting method. 81Kr ages range from \~2x10^5 to ~1x10^6 yr, correlate with 36Cl/Cl ratios, and are consistent with lateral flow of groundwater from a recharge area near the Uweinat Uplift in SW Egypt.

Monitoring of saline tracer movement with vertically distributed self-potential measurements at the HOBE agricultural test site, Voulund, Denmark [PDF]
The self-potential (SP) method is sensitive to water fluxes in saturated and partially saturated porous media, such as those associated with rainwater infiltration and groundwater recharge. We present a field-based study at the Voulund agricultural test site, Denmark, that is, to the best of our knowledge, the first to focus on the vertical self ...

Assessment of Groundwater Recharge in Agro-Urban Watersheds Using Integrated SWAT-MODFLOW Model
Numerical models are employed widely to evaluate the hydrological components of a watershed but, traditionally, watershed models simplify either surface or subsurface flow module.

Groundwater recharge estimation using empirical methods from rainfall and streamflow records
Study region: Gumara and Ribb watersheds, Abbay Basin, Ethiopia. Study focus: In this paper, an attempt was made to estimate groundwater recharge from streamflow and rainfall records. The groundwater recharge was estimated by different empirical methods,
