Groundwater Recharge Research in Saskatchewan [PDF]
A system to pump, treat, and inject surface water into selected aquifers through existing wells has been developed. The factors considered in the design of a system for recharging groundwater, and a procedure for evaluating potential groundwater recharge sites, are discussed. A pumping, treatment and injection system has been successfully field tested.

Mapping groundwater recharge potential zone using a GIS approach in Hualian River, Taiwan
Hualian River is abundant in runoff and high in sediment transport capacity. Most surface water is utilized for agricultural purposes, whereas domestic and industrial water usage relies on the copious amount of available groundwater.

Assessment of groundwater recharge in urban areas
In the city of Barcelona and the townships situated in the deltaic area of the Besòs River, groundwater is recognized as an aspect of urban water cycle management. There is groundwater seepage into infrastructure and buildings that in turn require drainage, a part of which is introduced into sewage systems.

A new classification for inland freshwater palaeowetlands to be used in the field or core laboratory by sedimentologists, providing examples from the Guadix Basin (southern Spain). Abstract Present wetlands have proven to be delicate, biodiverse ecosystems, that are natural sinks for CO2 and act as good indicators for climate changes.

Global-scale estimation of diffuse groundwater recharge : model tuning to local data for semi-arid and arid regions and assessment of climate change impact [PDF]
Groundwater recharge is the major limiting factor for the sustainable use of groundwater. To support water management in a globalized world, it is necessary to estimate, in a spatially resolved way, global-scale groundwater recharge.

The article demonstrates that brine was central for the supply of Ca and B to the studied saline lake. The ion transport occurred probably by thermal springs, while contributions from surface waters cannot be excluded. However, the saturation and syndepositional precipitation of Ca borates were initiated by an arid climate through evaporation, while ...

Despite advanced wastewater treatment, dilution by rainwater and mixing, and microbial modification, nitrogen nutrients derived from shallowly injected wastewater are detected in nearshore waters in the Florida Keys. Abstract Injection of treated wastewater into the shallow subsurface on islands and along coastlines is a common practice in areas like ...

Groundwater recharge estimation studies in a khondalitic terrain of India
Agriculture is the main occupation in the Kandivalasa river sub-basin (KRSB) covered with khondalitic terrain of Eastern Ghats of India. The farmers are mainly depending on groundwater for irrigation in non-monsoon period in the study area; as such it is
