On a common refinement of Stark units and Gross–Stark units

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to formulate and study a common refinement of a version of Stark's conjecture and its p$p$‐adic analogue, in terms of Fontaine's p$p$‐adic period ring. We construct period‐ring‐valued functions under a generalization of Yoshida's conjecture on the transcendental parts of CM‐periods.

On Weak Generalized Amenability of Triangular Banach Algebras

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Extension, 2014
Let A1, A2 be unital Banach algebras and X be an A1 − A2− module. Applying the concept of module maps, (inner) module generalized derivations and generalized first cohomology groups, we present several results concerning the relations between module ...

Vortex-Line Condensation in Three Dimensions: A Physical Mechanism for Bosonic Topological Insulators

open access: yesPhysical Review X, 2015
Bosonic topological insulators (BTIs) in three dimensions are symmetry-protected topological phases protected by time-reversal and boson number conservation symmetries.

Some applications of canonical metrics to Landau–Ginzburg models

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract It is known that a given smooth del Pezzo surface or Fano threefold X$X$ admits a choice of log Calabi–Yau compactified mirror toric Landau–Ginzburg model (with respect to certain fixed Kähler classes and Gorenstein toric degenerations).

First and second cohomology group of a bu ndle

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2012
Let (E, π, M) be a vector bundle. We define two cohomology groups associated to π using the first and second order jet manifolds of this bundle. We prove that one of them is isomorphic with a Čech cohomology group of the base space.

The mod-$2$ cohomology of $32Γ_3f$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We compute the group cohomology of $32\Gamma_3f$, a certain group of order 32. For this we construct explicit cocycle representatives of the cohomology generators. We thus lay to rest a discrepancy between several published computations of this cohomology ring.

On cohomology isomorphisms of groups

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2007
Abstract We show how Mislin's theorem on group homomorphisms that induce an isomorphism in cohomology can be proved based on ideas of Alperin and the use of Lannes's T -functor. This enables us to extend the class of groups to include groups of finite virtual cohomological dimension and profinite groups.

Counting integral points on symmetric varieties with applications to arithmetic statistics

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 130, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract In this article, we combine Bhargava's geometry‐of‐numbers methods with the dynamical point‐counting methods of Eskin–McMullen and Benoist–Oh to develop a new technique for counting integral points on symmetric varieties lying within fundamental domains for coregular representations.

From the conformal anomaly to the Virasoro algebra

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 130, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract The conformal anomaly and the Virasoro algebra are fundamental aspects of two‐dimensional conformal field theory and conformally covariant models in planar random geometry. In this article, we explicitly derive the Virasoro algebra from an axiomatization of the conformal anomaly in terms of real determinant lines, one‐dimensional vector spaces

Low degree cohomologies of congruence groups [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We prove the vanishing of certain low degree cohomologies of some induced representations. As an application, we determine certain low degree cohomologies of congruence groups.
