Maximal determinants and saturated D-optimal designs of orders 19 and 37 [PDF]
A saturated D-optimal design is a {+1,-1} square matrix of given order with maximal determinant. We search for saturated D-optimal designs of orders 19 and 37, and find that known matrices due to Smith, Cohn, Orrick and Solomon are optimal.

Maximal arcs and group divisible designs [PDF]
The existence of maximal arcs of a certain type in symmetric designs is shown to yield semiregular group divisible designs whose duals are also semiregular group divisible. Two infinite families of such group divisible designs are constructed. The group divisible designs in these families are, in general, not symmetric.

Difference Balanced Functions and Their Generalized Difference Sets [PDF]
Difference balanced functions from $F_{q^n}^*$ to $F_q$ are closely related to combinatorial designs and naturally define $p$-ary sequences with the ideal two-level autocorrelation.

More about Divisible Design Graphs [PDF]
: Divisible design graphs (DDG for short) have been recently defined by Kharaghani, Meulenberg and the second author as a generalization of (v, k, λ)-graphs.

Conditions for Singular Incidence Matrices [PDF]
Suppose one looks for a square integral matrixN, for which NN has a prescribed form. Then the Hasse-Minkowski invariants and the determinant of NN lead to necessary conditions for existence. The Bruck-Ryser-Chowla theorem gives a famous example of such ...

A General Theory of Sample Complexity for Multi-Item Profit Maximization
The design of profit-maximizing multi-item mechanisms is a notoriously challenging problem with tremendous real-world impact. The mechanism designer's goal is to field a mechanism with high expected profit on the distribution over buyers' values ...

Auctioning Many Divisible Goods [PDF]
We study the theory and practical implementation of auctioning many divisible goods. With multiple related goods, price discovery is important not only to reduce the winner’s curse, but more importantly, to simplify the bidder’s decision problem and to ...
