Supergravity and M-Theory

open access: yes, 2009
Supergravity provides the effective field theories for string compactifications. The deformation of the maximal supergravities by non-abelian gauge interactions is only possible for a restricted class of charges.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Relational dynamics and Page-Wootters formalism in group field theory [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum
Group field theory posits that spacetime is emergent and is hence defined without any background notion of space or time; dynamical questions are formulated in relational terms, in particular using (scalar) matter degrees of freedom as time.

Flowing in Group Field Theory Space: a Review [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2016
We provide a non-technical overview of recent extensions of renormalization methods and techniques to Group Field Theories (GFTs), a class of combinatorially non-local quantum field theories which generalize matrix models to dimension $d \geq 3$. More precisely, we focus on GFTs with so-called closure constraint, which are closely related to lattice ...

Quotients of trees for arithmetic subgroups of PGL₂ over a rational function field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this note we determine the structure of the quotient of the Bruhat-Tits tree of the locally compact group PGL(2)(F-p) with respect to the natural action of its S-arithmetic subgroup PGL(2)(O-{p}), where F is a rational function field over a finite ...

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Z(_N)-symmetric field theories and the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This thesis is concerned with perturbed conformal field theory, the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz technique and applications to statistical mechanics. In particular, the phase space of two dimensional Z(_N)-symmetric statistical models is examined using ...

Linearized group field theory and power-counting theorems

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceWe introduce a linearized version of group field theory. It can be viewed either as a group field theory over the additive group of a vector space or as an asymptotic expansion of any group field theory around the unit group element.
