SIRT4 positively regulates autophagy via ULK1, but independently of HDAC6 and OPA1
FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.Cells expressing SIRT4 (H161Y), a catalytically inactive mutant of the sirtuin SIRT4, fail to upregulate LC3B‐II and exhibit a reduced autophagic flux under stress conditions. Interestingly, SIRT4(H161Y) promotes phosphorylation of ULK1 at S638 and S758 that are associated with inhibition of autophagy initiation.

FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.This study investigates the protective role of salubrinal against heat‐induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in mouse spermatogenic cells (GC1 and GC2). By modulating the ER stress pathway, salubrinal alleviates cellular stress and supports spermatogenic cell survival, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic candidate for heat‐related infertility.

Aging and Cancer, EarlyView.Mortality from lung cancer and respiratory failure in US adults declined until 2010 but increased thereafter, with notable disparities by sex, race, region, and urbanicity. This 24‐year analysis highlights rising post‐2010 mortality in women, non‐Hispanic Whites, and urban areas, underscoring the need for targeted public health interventions.

Chronic Pain in Parkinson’s Disease: Prevalence, Sex Differences, Regional Anatomy and Comorbidities
Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.Chronic pain affected 66.2% of 10,631 individuals with Parkinson's disease, with higher prevalence and severity in females. Pain most often involved the buttocks, lower back, neck, and knees, and was linked to depression, sleep disorders, and osteoarthritis.
