Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Effects of pregnancy on neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder and predictors of related attacks
Abstract Objective Our study aimed to investigate the influence of pregnancy on the course of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) and to explore the independent predictors of pregnancy‐related attacks. Methods We performed a retrospective study of patients with NMOSD based on the Wingerchuk 2006 or the revised Wingerchuk 2015 criteria ...

Periodic bifurcations in descendant trees of finite (p)-groups [PDF]
Theoretical background and an implementation of the (p)-group generation algorithm by Newman and O'Brien are used to provide computational evidence of a new type of periodically repeating patterns in pruned descendant trees of finite (p)-groups.

Using the density matrix renormalization group, we investigate the Renyi entropy of the anisotropic spin-s Heisenberg chains in a z-magnetic field. We considered the half-odd integer spin-s chains, with s=1/2,3/2 and 5/2, and periodic and open boundary ...

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

The Analytical Separation of Titanium from Tungsten, Together with a Study of the Heteropoly-Tungstates [PDF]
The classical idea (based on a study of the boro-, silico- and phospho-tungstic acids) that each of the heteropoly-tungstic acids is formed by combination of tungstic acid with another acidic oxide can no longer be regarded as correct.

A theoretical study of the structural phases of Group 5B - 6B metals and their transport properties
In order to predict the stable and metastable phases of the bcc metals in the block of the Periodic Table defined by groups 5B to 6B and periods 4 to 6, as well as the structure dependence of their transport properties, we have performed full potential ...
