Structural volumetric and Periodic Table DTI patterns in Complex Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus—Toward the principles of a translational taxonomy

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience
IntroductionWe previously proposed a novel taxonomic framework to describe the diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) profiles of white matter tracts by their diffusivity and neural properties.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Renyi Entropy and Parity Oscillations of the Anisotropic Spin-s Heisenberg Chains in a Magnetic Field

open access: yes, 2011
Using the density matrix renormalization group, we investigate the Renyi entropy of the anisotropic spin-s Heisenberg chains in a z-magnetic field. We considered the half-odd integer spin-s chains, with s=1/2,3/2 and 5/2, and periodic and open boundary ...

Plasma extrachromosomal circular DNA as a biomarker in EGFR‐targeted therapy of non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Innovative Syntheses and Reactivity of Propiolamidines

open access: yesMolecules
Polydentate ligands with nitrogen donor atoms have possibly given rise to the largest group of coordination complexes described. Among these ligands, amidinates represent a nitrogenated version of carboxylates and allow the formation of complexes with ...

On the membership of group 3 of the periodic table: A new approach

open access: yesTHEORIA. An International Journal for Theory, History and Foundations of Science, 2019
In April 2015, an international team of researchers announced the measurement, for the first time, of the first ionization energy of lawrencium, a superheavy element of atomic number 103. The experimental result, published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature, led to the reopening of a long-standing debate that concerns the elements that should

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.
