Work with groups in Family Health: concepts, structure and strategies for transcultural care. A qualitative study

open access: yesOnline Brazilian Journal of Nursing, 2007
This paper aims to investigate strategies of transcultural care emerging from group work in Family Health programs. It is a qualitative study based on Madeleine Leininger’s theory of the diversity and universality of care.

Study of the Activity and Possible Mechanism of Action of a Reversible Inhibitor of Recombinant Human KAT-2: A Promising Lead in Neurodegenerative and Cognitive Disorders

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Abnormal levels of kynurenic acid (KYNA) in the human brain are believed to be connected to several central nervous system (CNS) diseases, therefore compounds which affect the production of this crucial metabolite are of interest in CNS drug development.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The probable direction of impact at Dhala impact structure, India deciphered from microfracture intensity and X-ray diffractometry: a new potential impact direction indicator

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
The most widely used method of determining impact direction employs asymmetric ejecta distribution around the crater. However, the active terrestrial landscape seldom preserves the pristine ejecta blanket, making it challenging for this analysis to be ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Antibacterial activity of Diterpenes against Methicillin-resistant

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2014
One new and seven known diterpenes were identified from an antibacterial chromatographic fraction of Taxodium ascendens . Of these, demethylcryptojaponol ( 2 ), 6-hydroxysalvinolone ( 3 ), hydroxyferruginol ( 4 ), and hinokiol ( 5 ) demonstrated potent ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
