Height velocity in a group of teenage boys
In a multi-discipline longitudinal study, 'Growth and Health of Teenagers', height velocity was measured four monthly during four consecutive years in a group of about 250 growing Dutch youngsters. From the individual velocity curves of height we calculated peak height velocity (PHV) and the age at which PHV occurred.

ABSTRACT Background Cognitive impairment is a common non‐motor symptom in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), negatively affecting autonomy and Quality of Life (QoL). Innovative rehabilitation strategies, such as semi‐immersive virtual reality (VR) and computerized cognitive training (CCT), may offer advantages over traditional cognitive rehabilitation (TCR ...

Spectroscopic observations of sn 2012fr: A luminous, normal type Ia supernova with early high-velocity features and a late velocity plateau [PDF]
We present 65 optical spectra of the Type Ia SN 2012fr, 33 of which were obtained before maximum light. At early times, SN 2012fr shows clear evidence of a high-velocity feature (HVF) in the Si lambda 6355 line that can be cleanly decoupled from the ...

ABSTRACT Background and Purpose White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are a core neuroimaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Sleep apnoea (SA) is a recognized vascular risk factor, but its associations with regional WMH burden, short‐interval WMH change and cognitive performance in population‐based cohorts remain incompletely defined. We

Group velocity control by quadratic nonlinear interactions
We give direct experimental evidence that the group velocity of ultrashort pulses can be controlled through 2-cascaded interactions, under the condition of large group-velocity mismatch. The group velocity can be finely tuned by acting on pulse intensity

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

The Radon and Hilbert transforms and their applications to atmospheric waves
The Radon and Hilbert transform and their applications to convectively coupled waves (CCWs) are reviewed. The Hilbert Transform is used to compute the wave envelope, whereas the Radon transform is used to estimate the phase and group velocities of CCWs ...

ABSTRACT Objective To characterize the demographic, clinical, and laboratory features of the Chinese patients of genetic Creutzfeldt‐Jakob disease with T188K variant (T188K‐gCJD), the most common subtype of genetic prion diseases (gPrDs) in China. Methods In this nationwide retrospective study, data from 98 genetically confirmed T188K‐gCJD patients ...

New Torsional Surface Elastic Waves in Cylindrical Metamaterial Waveguides for Sensing Applications
In this paper, we demonstrate that torsional surface elastic waves can propagate along the curved surface of a metamaterial elastic rod (cylinder) embedded in a conventional elastic medium.
