Viscosity, yield stress and compressive strength of cement-based grout modified with polymers

open access: yes, 2019
In this study, two types of polycarboxylate (PCE) polymer (DBC-21 and VK-98) were used as additives in the cement-based grout. The water-cement ratio (w/c) was fixed to 0.6 and 1.0 at temperature of 25° Celsius and 50° Celsius.

Calculation model and verification of shield tunnel segment flotation based on grout buoyancy dissipation characteristics

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
Addressing the frequent issue of segment flotation during shield tunnel construction, this study first employs a self-developed testing device to reveal the time-dependent variation patterns of net buoyancy in typical single-component grout and two ...

An experimental investigation of retro-reinforced clay brick arches

open access: yes, 2010
This paper describes the laboratory testing of eight 2.95m span segmental profile clay brick arches. Seven of the arches were strengthened with longitudinal intrados (soffit) reinforcement; the eighth was left unreinforced as an experimental control ...

Competition Law in Telecommunications and its Implications for Common Carriage of Water [PDF]

open access: yes
As with most water companies in the world UK water companies face very little competition for the delivery of water within their area. However, recently both the government and the regulator, Ofwat, have indicated that they wish to see a major change in ...

Effect of hydrostatic pressure on water and solute transport in post-tensioned grout

open access: yesDiscover Civil Engineering
Post-tensioned (PT) structures face critical durability challenges related to grout deficiencies, particularly concerning water segregation and solute transport at elevated heights. This study investigates the effects of hydrostatic pressure on water and
