Investigating the fatigue performance of grouted macadams

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Transport, 2009
A conventional grouted macadam is manufactured by producing a highly porous asphalt skeleton (25–35% voids), and filling the voids with a selected highly flowable cementitious grout. Grouted macadam combines some of the best qualities of concrete and asphalt pavements, namely the flexibility and absence of joints which characterise asphalt and the ...

Investigation into engineering properties and strength mechanism of grouted macadam composite materials

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2015
To further understand engineering properties of grouted macadam composite materials (GMCM) used as a surfacing layer in pavement, the mechanical properties and durability characteristics of GMCM were evaluated, and the relevant strength mechanisms were investigated at the micro level.

Cold mix, cold laid semi-flexible Grouted Macadams, mix design and properties

Performance of Bituminous and Hydraulic Materials in Pavements, 2017
Grouted Macadams consist of a single sized porous asphalt layer laid with a traditional asphalt paver typically to a thickness of up to 60 mm. The porous asphalt skeleton is designed to achieve a high void content (28-32%) whilst maintaining a thick bitumen coating on the aggregate particles.

L'uso del Grouted Macadam

2017

A study of the fatigue properties of grouted macadams

2007
Grouted macadams can be seen as semi-flexible materials. Their behavior is still not well understood. This paper presents a series of laboratory tests, carried out at the University of Nottingham, with the goal of contributing to a better understanding of the fatigue performance of such materials.
