Interacting Growth Walk - a model for hyperquenched homopolymer glass?

open access: yes, 2002
We show that the compact self avoiding walk configurations, kinetically generated by the recently introduced Interacting Growth Walk (IGW) model, can be considered as members of a canonical ensemble if they are assigned random values of energy.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

An exactly solvable lattice model for inhomogeneous interface growth

open access: yes, 1996
We study the dynamics of an exactly solvable lattice model for inhomogeneous interface growth. The interface grows deterministically with constant velocity except along a defect line where the growth process is random. We obtain exact expressions for the

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

A Geometric Fractal Growth Model for Scale Free Networks

open access: yes, 2001
We introduce a deterministic model for scale-free networks, whose degree distribution follows a power-law with the exponent $\gamma$. At each time step, each vertex generates its offsprings, whose number is proportional to the degree of that vertex with ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Decentralizing the Stochastic Growth Model [PDF]

open access: yes
The objective of this paper is to propose a number of alternative decentralized interpretations of representative agent style stochastic growth economies and to explore their implications for the generality of this model construct.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Acropora spp. Coral Gardening Using Fragmentation and Direct Transplantation: A Feasibility Study at Boundary Island

open access: yesOceans
As major bleaching continues to ravage reefs worldwide, there is an urgent need for active coral restoration. However, the high cost of such a project is inhibitive for many countries.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
