Growth Accelerations [PDF]

open access: yes
Unlike most cross-country growth analyses, we focus on turning points in growth performance. We look for instances of rapid acceleration in economic growth that are sustained for at least eight years and identify more than 80 such episodes since the ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Beneficial effects of duck-derived lactic acid bacteria on growth performance and meat quality through modulation of gut histomorphology and intestinal microflora in Muscovy ducks

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Duck-derived lactic acid bacteria (DDL) are a crucial beneficial bacterium in the intestines, contributing significantly to the health of ducks. However, the mechanism by which these DDL improves the growth performance and meat quality of Muscovy duck ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Effect of maternal myostatin antibody on offspring growth performance and body composition in mice

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]Myostatin (GDF8) is a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) superfamily. The finding that animals with a knockout or mutation of the myostatin-encoding gene show increased muscle mass suggests that myostatin negatively ...

Holstein calves fed a milk replacer with a direct-fed microbial and a starter containing a botanical extract or a direct-fed microbial alone or in combination

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science
: Botanical extracts (BE; Apex, Adisseo) have demonstrated enhanced DMI and improved gut health, whereas direct-fed microbials (DFM), such as Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product (Excell [EX], Pacer Technology Inc.), have demonstrated improved ...
