Upacicalcet: A Novel Intravenous Calcimimetic Agent for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With Secondary Hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

Growth rates of permutation classes: categorization up to the uncountability threshold

open access: yes, 2019
In the antecedent paper to this it was established that there is an algebraic number $\xi\approx 2.30522$ such that while there are uncountably many growth rates of permutation classes arbitrarily close to $\xi$, there are only countably many less than $\

Differential operators admitting various rates of spectral projection growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We consider families of non-self-adjoint perturbations of self-adjoint harmonic and anharmonic oscillators. The norms of spectral projections of these operators are found to grow at intermediate rates from arbitrarily slowly to exponentially rapidly ...

Caudex growth and phenology of Cyathea atrovirens (Langsd. & Fisch.) Domin (Cyatheaceae) in secondary forest, southern Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The leaf production and senescence, formation and release of spores of Cyathea atrovirens (Langsd. & Fisch.) Domin were analysed based on the monthly monitoring of 50 plants growing in a secondary forest, in the municipality of Novo Hamburgo, in the ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Taxes and the Economy: An Economic Analysis of the Top Tax Rates Since 1945 (Updated) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
[Excerpt] Advocates of lower tax rates argue that reduced rates would increase economic growth, increase saving and investment, and boost productivity (increase the size of the economic pie).

Shoot growth of woody trees and shrubs is predicted by maximum plant height and associated traits

open access: yes, 2017
1. The rate of elongation and thickening of individual branches (shoots) varies across plant species. This variation is important for the outcome of competition and other plant-plant interactions.

Beyond Metropolitan Startup Rates: Regional Factors Associated with Startup Growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Understanding what fosters -- and hinders -- firm formation and growth at the metropolitan level across the United States is a challenge. Entrepreneurship can be measured by a variety of indicators, and they each can tell somewhat different stories ...
