A 3V GSM codec

Proceedings ISSCC '95 - International Solid-State Circuits Conference, 1995
Designed to satisfy the data conversion requirements of the Pan-European (GSM) cellular radio system, the chip is part of a four chip-set total GSM solution comprising the codec, the DSP, the digital ASIC, and the micro-controller. Fabricated in a 0.8 /spl mu/m double-poly, double-metal CMOS process, the integrated circuit combines a voiceband codec ...

Cognitive GSM OpenBTS

2014 IEEE 11th International Conference on Mobile Ad Hoc and Sensor Systems, 2014
In this demo, we demonstrate integration of cognitive radio capabilities, on the fly, with GSM base station (BTS) using OpenBTS architecture. The demonstration has following novel features: Cognitive sensing of the channel, in use by secondary user, while transmitting, On the fly shifting to free GSM subchannel without call drop, Works with existing ...

GSM evolution to an IN platform: Offering GSM mobility as an IN service

1994
An architecture based on the integration of IN and GSM was presented as a possible path for the evolution of GSM to UMTS. From the standards point of view what is need is the absorption of MAP into INAP, resulting in a unified protocol. With a unified protocol the architecture presented here becomes viable.

Design of a GSM vocoder

Tutorial Guide. ISCAS 2001. IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat. No.01TH8573), 2001
Describes a UCI - Motorola joint project demonstrating SpecC methodology. Evaluates benefits of enhanced full-rate (EFR) vocoder with GSM standard for mobile telephony (GSM 06.10) and lossy voice encoding/decoding: stream of speech samples at 104 kbit/s; encoded bit stream at 12.2 kbit/s.

IPv6‐GSM: An IPv6‐based solution for GSM number portability

International Journal of Network Management, 2003
AbstractThis paper proposes an algorithm called IPv6‐GSM. In IPv6‐GSM, users own GSM Local Number Portability (LNP) capability and can communicate with VoIP terminals efficiently. Therefore, with the ample address space and embedded neat mobility mechanism than its ancestor, IPv6‐GSM is demonstrated as an acceptable method for constructing future all ...

For a GSM network tuning [PDF]

open access: possibleFirst International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing, 2004., 2004
The optimization of an operational GSM network is a task needing a lot of engineering solutions. In this paper, we would expose a methodology for solving QoS problems. Problem detection processes are developed, as well as logical parameter tunings.

Performance evaluation of GSM handover traffic in a GPRS/GSM network

Proceedings of the Eighth IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications. ISCC 2003, 2004
The introduction of GPRS services into GSM networks creates new challenges to network planning engineers. One critical challenge comes from the requirement for providing a certain quality of service for GPRS traffic without significantly degrading the performance of existing GSM services.

GSM

2005
Publisher Summary The aim of global system for mobile (GSM) is to develop a digital mobile phone system that will support roaming across country borders. The goals set for the system were tough because no digital system had been launched before and nor had any attempts at roaming on this scale been considered.

Cracking GSM

Network Security, 2011
Next year - 2012 - will be the 30th anniversary of the birth of the GSM standard. Back in 1982, the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) created the Groupe Special Mobile (GSM) standard to allow mobiles to be used across Europe.
