Controls on strath terrace formation and evolution: The lower Guadiana River, Pulo do Lobo, Portugal

Geomorphology, 2018
The lower Guadiana River carves a wide canyon in the Variscan metamorphic rocks of the SW Iberian Peninsula and presents an exceptionally homogeneous and well-preserved case of a strath terrace (ST) some 40 km long and 400 m wide.

A long-term hydrological modelling of the Upper Guadiana river basin (Spain)

Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, Parts A/B/C, 2003
Abstract The Upper Guadiana catchment has experienced a change from wetlands to dry lands induced by human action. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool model, a soil water budget simulator for agricultural watersheds, was applied to this catchment. The ability of the model to represent the impact of groundwater withdrawals on the hydrological behaviour

Selection of Priority Areas for Fish Conservation in Guadiana River Basin, Iberian Peninsula

Conservation Biology, 2004
Abstract:  We developed a species‐by‐species approach for selecting protected areas for conservation of native freshwater fishes in semiarid regions, with catchment as the fundamental landscape unit for conservation efforts.
