The sustainability of guadua forests under management was assessed throughout the emergy analysis approach. The system analyzed correspond to guadua forest whose major product are culms for commercial purposes. In order to calculate the sustainability, available information on purchased inputs, renewable and nonrenewable natural resources as well as ...

Elastic Module Study of the Radial Section of Guadua angustifolia Kunth Variety Bicolor
Elastic modulus of the radial section of the Guadua angustifolia Kunth variety Bicolor was studied by technique of propagation of acoustic waves; the signal time delay in the samples was used as the control parameter. The studies were carried out in the culm cross‐section in radial direction.

The decay resistance and hyphae penetration of bamboo Gigantochloa scortechinii decayed by white and brown rot fungi were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The bamboo grown in natural stand from three different age classes of 0.5, 3.5, and 6.5 years was harvested, oven dried, sterilised, and exposed to agar media containing 4% malt

To evaluate the response of the ant assemblages to different management practices in the tropical dry forests of southwestern Colombia, 10 sites that conserve forest fragments surrounded by pastures and sugarcane crops were sampled. Tuna‐fish baits placed on the ground in the three habitats captured 100 ant species (41 genera).
