Revealing the Hidden Stress Field and Its Thermal Input Dependence in Femtosecond Laser–Processed Silicon Photonic Chip Substrates via Weak Measurement

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 13, 13 July 2026.
A novel noncontact method based on weak value amplification enables high‐sensitivity stress mapping of femtosecond laser processed silicon photonic chip substrates. It converts microscale stress into the birefringent phase via the photoelastic effect and reads it out with weak measurement, achieving a 0.37‐kPa detection limit.

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 39, 13 July 2026.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

Engineering Synergistic Adsorption–Photocatalysis via an S‐Scheme Heterojunction in Dual‐Mesoporous LaNi0.8Fe0.2O3/g‐C3N4 for Superior Visible‐Light‐Driven Dye Removal

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Dual‐mesoporous LaNi0.8Fe0.2O3/g‐C3N4 S‐scheme photocatalyst is synthesized for efficient dye removal. It achieves 94.8% degradation of reactive black under visible light. ·OH dominates degradation, and an S‐scheme charge transfer mechanism is clarified for pollution treatment. Dye residue‐induced water pollution presents a serious threat to ecological

Midazolam Exerts Sedative Effects by Differentially Modulating Cortical Pyramidal Neurons and PV Interneurons

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 7, July 2026.
We show that midazolam produces region‐ and cell‐type‐dependent effects, with stronger suppression in the auditory cortex than in the anterior cingulate cortex and greater sensitivity in pyramidal neurons than in PV+ interneurons. Differential GABRA1 expression is associated with this regional variation in midazolam sensitivity. These findings indicate

Investigation of Severe Turbulence Over China During 2018–2025 From In Situ EDR Data

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Based on in situ EDR data from Xiamen Airlines, this study systematically quantifies aviation turbulence characteristics over China, identifies high‐risk turbulence regions and their correlations with weather systems, and proposes targeted forecasting strategies through persistent turbulence events analysis.

A Physics‐Based Approach to Project the Impact of Climate Change on Occurrence of Compound Floods in a Large River Delta

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Climate change is intensifying compound flooding in coastal regions, caused by the co‐occurrence of coastal and fluvial floods. This trend increases the probability of disasters beyond historical precedent, posing growing threats to densely populated deltas.
