First Report of Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne enterolobii on Guava in Vietnam

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2009
In southern Vietnam, citrus is interplanted with guava (Psidium guajava L.) for the management of citrus greening disease. Guava seedlings exhibited decline symptoms including leaf browning, growth inhibition, leaf drop, and death. These symptomatic seedlings were accompanied by severely galled roots, possibly attributable to root-knot nematodes.

Genetic diversity of the root‐knot nematode Meloidogyne enterolobii and development of a SCAR marker for this guava‐damaging species [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Pathology, 2010
The objectives of this work were to evaluate the genetic variability of Meloidogyne enterolobii by molecular markers, and develop species‐specific molecular markers for application in detection. Sixteen M.

HISTOPATHOLOGY OF ROOT-KNOT NEMATODE (MELOIDOGYNE JAVANICA (TREUB) CHITWOOD INFECTING GUAVA SEEDLINGS ROOT

open access: yesFUUAST Journal of Biology, 2021
Guava roots naturally infected with root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne javanica) were fixed, sectioned and examined with a microscope. It was observed that the nematode juveniles developed and moved normally within root tissue.

Comparative efficacy of cucurbitacin phytonematicides and Velum on growth and fruit quality of watermelon cultivar ‘Congo’ and suppression of Meloidogyne enterolobii under field conditions

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Scandinavica. Section B, Soil and Plant Science, 2022
Globally, the guava root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne enterolobii) is becoming an emerging threat of note in crops with or without Mi resistance genes.

Potential global distribution of the guava root-knot nematode Meloidogyne enterolobii under different climate change scenarios using MaxEnt ecological niche modeling

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2023
In recent years, Meloidogyne enterolobii has emerged as a major parasitic nematode infesting many plants in tropical or subtropical areas. However, the regions of potential distribution and the main contributing environmental variables for this nematode ...

Interaction Effect of Soilless Media and Organic Amendments for Eco-Friendly Root-Knot Nematode Management in Brinjal and Tomato Nursery

open access: yes, 2021
Brinjal and tomato are the most important transplanted vegetable crops of the Solanaceae family. The successful cultivation of these crops is vital for meeting the nutritional dietary requirement of India’s population and earning foreign exchange for the

Preservation of moderately resistant or tolerant genotypes: a strategy to overcome guava decline [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural
: Native to the tropical Americas, guava (Psidium guajava L.) is an important crop in Brazil. However, the emergence of so-called guava decline, a complex disease resulting from root parasitism by the root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne enterolobii Yang ...

The AAP gene family for amino acid permeases contributes to development of the cyst nematode Heterodera schachtii in roots of Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The beet cyst nematode Heterodera schachtii is able to infect Arabidopsis plants and induce feeding sites in the root. These syncytia are the only source of nutrients for the nematodes throughout their life and are a nutrient sink for the host plant.

Identification and characterisation of a hyper-variable apoplastic effector gene family of the potato cyst nematodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Date of Acceptance: 11/08/2014Sedentary endoparasitic nematodes are obligate biotrophs that modify host root tissues, using a suite of effector proteins to create and maintain a feeding site that is their sole source of nutrition. Using assumptions about
