Estimation of rubber and resin content in guayule from a diverse breeding population in Mexico

Bioresource Technology, 1991
Abstract Thirty-eight accessions and two control varieties of guayule were evaluated under rain-fed conditions. The analysis of variance showed significant differences for percentage rubber. The differences between percentage resin, plant height, and top spread were not significant. The rubber content varied from 1.7% to 5.9%.

In-vivo determination of polyisoprene and resins contents of guayule plants by near infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: possible, 2018
Rubber is omnipresent in our daily lives. This elastomer is used to make more than 40,000 products including tires and medical gloves. Because of its exceptional properties, natural rubber is essential for the industry. Furthermore, it is a raw material renewable and environmentally friendly (contrary to synthetic rubber).
