Summer Phytoplankton Physiognomy in Coastal Waters of the Gulf of Naples

Marine Ecology, 1990
Abstract. Thirteen sampling cruises were conducted at weekly intervals in the inner part of the Gulf of Naples in the summer of 1983 to investigate the effects of excess nutrient inputs on phytoplankton communities. High surface phytoplankton concentrations (up to 1.15 ×108 cells 1‐1) were recorded, particularly near Naples harbour and along the ...

Barotropic aspects of the dynamics of the Gulf of Naples (Tyrrhenian Sea)

Continental Shelf Research, 2001
Abstract Process-oriented studies are carried out in order to analyze barotropic dynamical features in the Gulf of Naples: gravitational normal mode oscillations (seiches) of the gulf and depth-averaged circulations induced directly by the wind and remotely by the large-scale Tyrrhenian circulation.

Variability in the Hydrographic and Biological Features of the Gulf of Naples

Marine Ecology, 1980
. Recent observations of physico-chemical and biological parameters in the Gulf of Naples are summarized. The water masses present within the Gulf during the various periods of the year are described. The temporal and spatial distribution of surface nutrients (N-NO3, P-PO4, Si-SiO4) and chlorophyll a are reported and the areas exposed to local ...

An Annotated Check-List of Planktonic Diatoms from the Gulf of Naples

Marine Ecology, 1981
. New data on the planktonic diatoms from the Gulf of Naples are presented together with those from the literature. Information is given on abundances, seasonal cycles and distributions of 183 taxa, including species, varieties and forms.

Numerical models for the simulation of currents in naples gulf

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 1983
Abstract Two numerical hydrodynamic models of wind-driven water circulation in a basin are considered. Some results from their application to the Gulf of Naples are described.

Inshore/offshore water exchange in the Gulf of Naples

Journal of Marine Systems, 2015
Abstract The Gulf of Naples is a coastal area in the south-eastern Tyrrhenian Sea (western Mediterranean). Zones of great environmental and touristic value coexist in this area with one of the largest seaports in the Mediterranean Sea, industrial settlements and many other pollution sources.

Ultraplankton of the Gulf of Naples by Flow Cytometry

2001
Ultraplankton composition and distribution were investigated as a function of physical structures and water masses of the Gulf of Naples in November 1995. Cyanobacteria were distributed all over the Gulf, but mostly in the surface mixed layer. Prochlorophytes were more abundant off-shore and at depth.

Structural analysis of winter phytoplankton in the Gulf of Naples

Journal of Plankton Research, 1981
Quantitative and qualitative distribution of surface phytoplankton, as related to hydrographic conditions, was studied in the Gulf of Naples in February 1979. Previous work has shown that the Gulf of Naples is a diversified ecosystem, due to geographic and hydrographic features as well as man made eutrophication, that can be subdivided into two major ...
