The stress model of rock in the hydraulic fracturing process is developed to study the behavior of hydraulic fracture propagation in strong heterogeneous shale under the coupled action of stress and seepage. In heterogeneous shale reservoirs, strong heterogeneity is the main factor limiting the height propagation of hydraulic fractures.

A novel method for automatic quantification of different pore types in shale based on SEM-EDS calibration [PDF]
Pore type is a crucial consideration in the quantification of shale pores. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are widely used for identifying pore types in shale, but it is hampered by feature extraction bias, difficult data labeling, and poor ...

Logging-based prediction of organic geochemical parameters in oil shale during thermal evolution using the XGBoost algorithm [PDF]
Oil shale in large basins undergoes multiple evolutionary stages, limiting the applicability of a single logging-based prediction model. This study focuses on the oil shale of the Qingshankou Formation in the Songliao Basin, using gamma ray (GR), deep ...

Movable oil content evaluation in low-to-medium maturity lacustrine shale during in-situ conversion [PDF]
Low-to-medium maturity shale oil resources hold significant potential, but their economic accessibility is limited by low porosity, low permeability, and a low proportion of movable oil. In-situ conversion technology can crack organic matter and in-place
