INDEXES TO MEASURE DEPENDENCE BETWEEN CLINICAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY INDICES PARA MEDIR DEPENDENCIA ENTRE PRUEBAS PARA DIAGNÓSTICO CLÍNICO: UN ESTUDIO COMPARATIVO

open access: yesRevista Colombiana de Estadística, 2011
In many practical situations, clinical diagnostic procedures include two or more biological traits whose outcomes are expressed on a continuous scale and are then dichotomized using a cut point.

Performance of multiparameter distributions in estimating rainfall extremes and deriving IDF equations in Paraná [PDF]

open access: yesRBRH
Frequency analysis of rainfall involves selecting a probabilistic model to represent sample data and perform design estimates. Various probability distributions are available for this purpose, but there is no general consensus on the most appropriate one.

Extending the hyper‐logistic model to the random setting: New theoretical results with real‐world applications

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
We develop a full randomization of the classical hyper‐logistic growth model by obtaining closed‐form expressions for relevant quantities of interest, such as the first probability density function of its solution, the time until a given fixed population is reached, and the population at the inflection point.

The Comparison between Gumbel and Exponentiated Gumbel Distributions and their Applications in Hydrological Process

open access: yesAdvances in Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence, 2021
The Exponentiated Gumbel (EG) distribution has been proposed to capture some aspects of the data that the Gumbel distribution fails to specify. it has an increasing hazard rate. The Exponentiated Gumbel distribution has applications in hydrology, meteorology, climatology, insurance, finance and geology, among many others.

A new extension of the Gumbel distribution with biomedical data analysis

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences
In the field of biomedical research, data characteristics often exhibit significant variability, challenging the applicability of classical Gumbel distribution for biomedical data modeling.

Sensitivity Analysis in Mean Annual Sediment Yield Modeling with Respect to Rainfall Probability Distribution Functions

open access: yesLand, 2022
An accurate estimation of the mean annual sediment yield from basins contributes to optimizing water resources planning and management. More specifically, both reservoir sedimentation and the damage caused to infrastructures fall within its field of ...

Fractional Moment Theory for Anomalous Transport: A Unified Framework for Lévy Flights, Fractals, and Complex Dynamical Systems

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We develop a unified mathematical framework extending classical moment theory from discrete integer orders to a continuous spectrum of real orders f>0$$ f>0 $$, providing a systematic statistical characterization of complex systems exhibiting power‐law behavior.

Microstructure, Defects, and Fatigue Response of High‐Strength Tool Steels

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The martensitic tool steel family is designed for use in various working environments where they are subjected to repeatedly high mechanical loads. Despite the continuous upgrade of material´s microstructures through compositional development or processing techniques, defects remain a critical factor for the tool performance by leading to fatigue ...

Gumbel mixture modelling for multiple failure data

open access: yes, 2022
The Gumbel mixture model is a popular tool for modelling extreme events with mixed formation mechanisms. The lack of a shape parameter in the Gumbel distribution makes it somewhat less practical for mixture modelling compared to the Weibull distribution,
