The influence of alcohol on prehospital diagnostics and therapy of injured patients

This matched‐pair study of 6468 trauma patients analyzed the impact of alcohol intoxication on initial prehospital assessment and treatment. Alcohol‐intoxicated patients were less accurately assessed—especially regarding head and facial injuries—which led to both over‐ and underdiagnosis.

Fever of Unknown Origin From the Primary Care Perspective: A Case Report

A 60‐year‐old immunocompetent man presented to his primary care physician with 3 weeks of fever without an obvious source or risk factors. After multiple encounters, he was found to have a pyogenic liver abscess on computed tomography (CT). He improved with interventional radiology (IR) drainage and antibiotics.

Pseudoaneurysm is an abnormal outpouching from the arterial wall containing only the outermost adventitial layer. As compared with this, true aneurysms contain all three layers: intima, media, and adventitia. Pseudoaneurysms are formed when blood traverses through the intima and media but is held by an adventitial layer.
