Nonstationarity in wildlife disease dynamics: insights from the prairie dog–plague system

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Ecological relationships often vary in strength and direction across ecosystems, a pattern that has become increasingly evident as ecology expands to broader spatial and temporal scales. Although such nonstationarity – the changing effect of predictor variables across spatiotemporal contexts – is widely acknowledged in ecological research, it has ...

Examining the Role of Economic Complexity and Climate Readiness in the Climate‐Fishing Nexus

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the climate‐fisheries association in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations from 1999 to 2022. A key objective is to explore the role of both the economic complexity index (ECI) and the climate readiness factor (READ) in the climate‐fishing nexus.

Multi-Objective ADRC-Based Aircraft Gust Load Control

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In this paper, we propose a dual-loop Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) strategy for gust load alleviation in flexible aircraft. By decoupling the control of modal and normal accelerations and spatially allocating control surfaces, the method ...

How Climate Change Shapes Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Performance in the MENA Countries

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate change, political stability, and sustainability are three central factors that interact and serve as key drivers of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. Accordingly, this paper aims to fill a vital research gap by examining the impacts of climate change, natural resource ...

Gust Load Alleviation Exploiting Structural Nonlinearity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gust interaction is a crucial design consideration for civil aircraft. A gust disturbance is defined as any air velocity component normal to the flight path. Gust interactions can rapidly change the aerodynamic forces acting on a wing and in turn the loads on the aircraft.

Patient treatment needs in atopic dermatitis: A real‐world cohort study

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Among 697 adults with moderate‐to‐severe atopic dermatitis, itch relief was the leading treatment priority, whereas other needs differed by age, sex, education and disease onset. Patient‐reported outcomes tracked perceived benefit more closely than physician‐assessed severity, supporting systematic needs assessment to individualize care.

Understanding the Meaning of a Good Death for People Living With Parkinson's Disease: Qualitative Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Parkinson's disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder globally. Despite growing attention to palliative care in Parkinson's disease, little is known about what constitutes a “good death” from the perspective of people living with Parkinson's disease (PLwPD).

Climate Shocks and Unemployment Claims

open access: yesScottish Journal of Political Economy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using a US state–level climate risk measure and the panel local projections framework, this study analyzes both linear and asymmetric effects of climate shocks on unemployment claims. The results provide strong evidence that climate shocks significantly increase both initial and continuing claims, with the linear estimates showing a stronger ...

Gust Load Alleviation Based on Active Disturbance Rejection Control for a Flying-Wing Aircraft with Circulation Control Actuators

open access: yesAerospace
Flying-wing aircraft are more susceptible to wind disturbance due to their smaller wing loading, making gust alleviation critical for flight performance and safety.
