Capsaicin Alleviates Autophagy‐Lysosomal Dysfunction via PPARA‐Mediated V‐ATPase Subunit ATP6V0E1 Signaling in 3xTg‐AD Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Autophagy‐lysosomal pathway deficits contribute to the accumulation of amyloid‐β (Aβ), Tau, and lipid droplets in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Capsaicin, a specific agonist of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1), can improve cognitive function ...

Single‐Cell Insights Into Macrophage Subtypes in Pulmonary Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review highlights the dynamic plasticity of macrophages during pulmonary infections and proposes an integrative framework defining six functional subtypes: Inflam‐Ms, Hub‐Ms, Reg‐Ms, Prolif‐Ms, Memory‐Ms, and Senesc‐Ms. Single‐cell omics delineate their distinct roles in homeostasis and infection, refining our understanding of macrophage ...

Photobiomodulation Strengthens Muscles via Its Dual Functions in Gut Microbiota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Non‐invasive photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) enhances muscle endurance by rewiring the gut‐muscle axis. PBMT preserves gut epithelial integrity and enriches beneficial anaerobes, driving metabolites such as butyrate, spermidine, and L‐carnitine that supercharge mitochondrial energy in skeletal muscles.

The SERPINB4 gene mutation identified in twin patients with Crohn’s disease impaires the intestinal epithelial cell functions

open access: yesScientific Reports
Crohn’s disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease of unknown etiology. To identify new targets related to the initiation of CD, we screened a pair of twins with CD, which is a rare phenomenon in the Chinese population, for genetic ...

Chronic PET‐Microplastic Exposure: Disruption of Gut–Liver Homeostasis and Risk of Hepatic Steatosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic exposure to environmentally relevant PET microplastics disrupts gut–liver homeostasis, leading to hepatic steatosis, early fibrosis, and altered gut microbiota. These effects signal metabolic imbalance and gut–liver axis impairment, emphasizing chronic microplastic ingestion as an emerging environmental health risk linked to non‐communicable ...

Structure‐Tailoring Cerium Nanozymes with Self‐Cascade ROS Scavenging Catalysis Modulate the Microbiota‐Gut‐Joint Axis for Rheumatoid Arthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A valence‐engineered CeOX nanozyme, with its Ce3+/Ce4+ ratio precisely controlled within the range of 0.27 to 0.93 through Au deposition, performs a self‐cascade oxidase‐superoxide dismutase‐peroxidase reaction, enabling continuous reactive oxygen species scavenging while minimizing oxygen generation.

An Inflammation‐Targeting Engineered Probiotic Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 with High Anti‐TNF‐α Nanobody Secretion Efficacy Alleviates Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ulcerative colitis therapy requires precise drug targeting. This study engineers a probiotic E. coli Nissle 1917 to surface‐display ANXA5, enabling specific binding to phosphatidylserine (PS) exposed on inflamed colonic epithelium for enhanced targeting and colonization.
