Evaluation of Microleakage in Single-Rooted Teeth Obturated with Thermoplasticized Gutta-Percha Using Various Endodontic Sealers: An In-Vitro Study.

Journal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons--Pakistan : JCPSP, 2018
OBJECTIVE To compare apical microleakage of extracted, single-rooted teeth obturated with thermoplasticized injectable gutta-percha using two different endodontic sealers (calcium-hydroxide and resin based). STUDY DESIGN An experimental study.

A new gutta-percha technique

Journal of Endodontics, 1978
A sealer, stainless steel files, and thermally plasticized gutta-percha were used in a filling technique to obtain a three-dimensional obturation of the root canal system. The technique eliminates the fitting of a master cone and does not require the special skills that are needed in other techniques for the apical placement of master cones.

Porosity and sealing ability of root fillings with gutta-percha and BioRoot RCS or AH Plus sealers. Evaluation by three ex vivo methods.

International Endodontic Journal, 2016
AIM To investigate the ability of BioRoot RCS, a tricalcium silicate-based root canal sealer and AH Plus to effectively fill the root canals of contralateral teeth using three evaluation methods, and to investigate also the correlation between the ...

Variability Of Master Gutta‐Percha Cones

Australian Endodontic Journal, 2002
AbstractThe common technique to hermetically fill prepared root canals involves the use of “standardised” guttapercha cones that are selected to fit the apical portion of the prepared canal space. These guttapercha cones are manufactured to conform to a standard size and taper which should correspond to the size and taper of standard root canal ...

Evaluation of gutta-percha solvents

Journal of Endodontics, 1990
Five solvents (rectified white turpentine, oil of melaleuca, eucalyptol, white pine oil, and pine needle oil) were compared with chloroform for their ability to dissolve gutta-percha. All solvents dissolved at least 50% of the gutta-percha in 15 min at 37 degrees C with chloroform and rectified white turpentine dissolving the gutta-percha completely.

Gutta percha obturation techniques

Clinical Techniques in Small Animal Practice, 2001
T h e most common cause of endodontic failure has been ascribed to incomplete obturation. Filling a root canal is intended to prevent microorganisms and toxins in the canal, as well as those present in the oral cavity, from passing along the root canal and moving out into the periradicular tissues. Matsumiya and Kitamura both demonstrated that bacteria

Effect of moisture and aging on gutta-percha

Journal of Endodontics, 1992
The purpose of this article was to study the plasticizing effect of controlled levels of different humidities on native and commercial gutta-percha samples. It was expected that the results might provide the practicing endodontist with invaluable insight into the mechanical properties of commercial gutta-percha cones (i.e. retrievability, malleability,

Crystal Structures of Gutta Percha [PDF]

open access: possibleProceedings of the Physical Society. Section B, 1953
Thin films of gutta percha have been examined by means of electron diffraction, and shown to exist in three distinct crystalline forms, termed the α, β and γ modifications, whereas prior to this work only two forms had been recognized. The conditions necessary for the occurrrence of the different forms are considered and probable unit cells are ...

Push-out bond strength of root fillings made with C-Point and BC sealer versus gutta-percha and AH Plus after the instrumentation of oval canals with the Self-Adjusting File versus WaveOne.

International Endodontic Journal, 2016
AIM To compare the push-out bond strength exhibited by root fillings performed with either C-Point and Endosequence® BC sealer™ (BC Sealer) or gutta-percha and AH Plus® after the instrumentation of oval canals with either the Self-Adjusting File (SAF ...

Thermomechanical analysis of dental gutta-percha

Journal of Endodontics, 1992
Samples of three common commercial gutta-percha endodontic filling points (Hygienic, Mynol, and Maillefer Pink) and a sample of natural gutta-percha were submitted to thermomechanical analysis under pressures ranging from 0.01 to 0.2 N. Samples of Mynol and Maillefer filling points were thermally treated and then submitted to thermomechanical analysis ...
