Thermomechanical analysis of dental gutta-percha
Journal of Endodontics, 1992Samples of three common commercial gutta-percha endodontic filling points (Hygienic, Mynol, and Maillefer Pink) and a sample of natural gutta-percha were submitted to thermomechanical analysis under pressures ranging from 0.01 to 0.2 N. Samples of Mynol and Maillefer filling points were thermally treated and then submitted to thermomechanical analysis ...

GUTTA-PERCHA TISSUE IN SURGERY
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1910Having observed that the men in general practice with whom I come in contact are for the most part unfamiliar with the use of gutta-percha tissue in surgery, I felt that it might be worth while to call attention to this agent. This unfamiliarity is explained by the fact that practically nothing is said about gutta-percha tissue in textbooks of surgery,

Modifications of the Gutta-Percha Hydrocarbon
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1932Abstract The spongy product from gutta-percha hydrocarbon, which is obtained from a concentrated petroleum ether solution, consists of microcrystals of the α-modification. The difference in its solubility and that of the compressed product prepared from the spongy product is perhaps attributable to the presence of an impurity.

Biologic acceptance is one of several criteria that must be met by an endodontic filling material. The purpose fo this experiment was to compare a new filling material consisting of a synthetic gutta-percha with a standard material consisting of natural gutta-percha. Each sample, being an endodontic point, contained a quantity of fillers. The materials

Cytotoxic effects of gutta-percha solvents
Journal of Endodontics, 1994Cytotoxicity of commonly used gutta-percha solvents was evaluated. Gutta-percha dissolved by chloroform, halothane, or turpentine was evaluated with the radiochromium release method using L929 mouse fibroblast cells. All solvents were toxic. Turpentine was most toxic followed by halothane and chloroform, which caused similar levels of cell injury.

An In Vitro Assessment of Iodoform Gutta-Percha
Journal of Endodontics, 2005The purpose of this study was to test the ability of a commercially available iodoform gutta-percha, to delay infiltration of Enterococcus faecalis using a microleakage model. Seventy extracted single-rooted teeth were decoronated and biomechanically prepared using hand and rotary instruments.

Dimensional stability of thermosensitive gutta-percha
Journal of Endodontics, 1997The expansion and shrinkage of four commercial brands of endodontic thermosensitive gutta-percha were evaluated. A modified volume dilatometry technique was used; the dilatometric system (DS) consisted of Pyrex glass capillary tubes and a specimen chamber. Each sample was weighed to 10(-4) mg, placed in the specimen chamber, and subjected to vacuum for

Gutta-percha solvents—a comparative study
Journal of Endodontics, 1986Gutta-percha solvents are used for both root canal filling and removal of root canal filling materials. A method is presented in which four gutta-percha solvents (chloroform, xylene, Endosolv-E, and orange terpenes) were compared for their effect on three brands of gutta-percha.
