Effectiveness of different chemical agents for disinfection of gutta‐percha cones

Australian Endodontic Journal, 2010
AbstractThis aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of different chemical methods to disinfect gutta‐percha cones (GP). Eighty‐six size 80 GP cones were used. The cones were contaminated by immersion in saliva and Enterococcus faecalis. Four chemical agents were used: 1% sodium hypochlorite (G1), 2% chlorhexidine gluconate (G2), 10%

The Rapid Sterilization of Gutta-Percha Cones with Sodium Hypochlorite and Glutaraldehyde

Journal of Endodontics, 2006
The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effectiveness of sodium hypochlorite and glutaraldehyde for rapid sterilization of gutta-percha cones contaminated with Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633. Cones were treated with either 2% glutaraldehyde or 2.5% sodium hypochlorite.

Densitometric measurement of radiopacity of gutta-percha cones and root dentin

Journal of Endodontics, 1990
National and international standards require that gutta-percha cones be sufficiently radiopaque to be distinguished from natural structures such as dentin and to permit evaluation of the density of the root canal filling. Discs, 1-mm thick, made from 15 commercial and experimental brands of gutta-percha cones, were tested for their compliance with the ...

Antibacterial Properties of Electron Beam–Sterilized Gutta–Percha Cones

Journal of Endodontics, 2001
The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of electron beam sterilization on gutta-percha cones (GPCs) at different times after sterilization. An agar diffusion test was used with -one aerobic bacterium (Bacillus subtilis) and five oral anaerobic bacteria (Fusobacterium nucleatum, Peptostreptococcus micros, Porphyromonas gingivalis ...

Efficiency of different chemical agents in decontamination of gutta‐percha cones

International Endodontic Journal, 1987
Summary. Gutta‐percha cones were contaminated with various bacteria, and the efficiency of different chemical agents in their decontamination was studied. Chlorhexidine (2 per cent) and sodium hypochlorite (5.25 per cent) effectively decontaminated the cones within 10 minutes.

Evaluation of the thermoplasticity of different gutta‐percha cones and Resilon®

Australian Endodontic Journal, 2007
AbstractThe goal of this study was to evaluate the thermoplasticity of conventional and thermoplastic gutta‐percha and Resilon®, a polyester polymer‐based material. Specimens with standardised dimensions were made from the following materials: conventional and thermoplastic gutta‐percha (Dentsply), conventional and thermoplastic gutta‐percha ...

Apical displacement of a gutta‐percha cone on cementation of a post and core

International Endodontic Journal, 1987
Summary. A case is reported where the root canals of were filled with apical gutta‐percha cones and AH26 sealer. Two months later the was prepared for a post crown, and on cementation of the post the root filling was displaced apically. The tooth gave symptoms until apicetomy and retrograde root filling were carried out.
