Learning Highly Dynamic Skills Transition for Quadruped Jumping Through Constrained Space

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A quadruped robot masters dynamic jumps through constrained spaces with animal‐inspired moves and intelligent vision control. This hierarchical learning approach combines imitation of biological agility with real‐time trajectory planning. Although legged animals are capable of performing explosive motions while traversing confined spaces, replicating ...

THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT GYMNASTICS TRAININGS ON BODY COMPOSITION AND SOME PERFORMANCE COMPONENTS IN ADULT MALE NON-GYMNASTS

open access: yesScience of Gymnastics Journal, 2020
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of artistic and trampoline gymnastics training on body composition and some of the physical fitness components in adult non-gymnasts.  Forty-eight adult non-gymnasts were randomly assigned to three groups:

Rotational Preference in Gymnastics

open access: yesJournal of Human Kinetics, 2012
Rotational Preference in Gymnastics In gymnastics, most skills incorporate rotations about one or more body axes. At present, the question remains open if factors such as lateral preference and/or vestibulo-spinal asymmetry are related to gymnast's rotational preference. Therefore, we sought to explore relationships in gymnast's rotation

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Adult Sex Ratio as a Demographic Feedback Linking Mating Systems, Parental Care, and Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Breeding systems are some of the most diverse social behavior, and our team is investigation the evolutionary causes of this diversity. This review summarises our research carried out at the University of Bath. We argue that demographic components of wild populations, especially the adult sex ratio, plays a key role driving breeding system variation ...

Using structural equation modelling to reassess bias in judging the vault event in men’s artistic gymnastics

open access: yesScientific Reports
In gymnastics competitions, the judges evaluate the performance of the gymnasts to determine the winners. Over the past few decades, cognitive psychology scholars have argued that judges in international gymnastics competitions may possess national ...
