Gynogenesis caused by ultraviolet irradiation of salmonid sperm [PDF]
AbstractGynogenetic rainbow trout lines can be produced easily with the simple UV sperm irradiation technique detailed in this study. The dose effect on embryonic survival rate is called a pseudo “Hertwig effect” because of major differences with results of gamma irradiation: Some mixing of various karyotypes (from diploid to haploid number) were ...

ABSTRACT Triploid fish are usually sterile, a trait which reduces unwanted sexual maturation in fish farming and eliminates the risk for negative genetic effects of escapees on wild stocks. The triploid state, normally established through a doubling of the maternal genome, consists of two chromosome sets from the mother and one from the father.

Polyamines are involved in the gynogenesis process in onion [PDF]
Haploidization in onion (Allium cepa L.) using immature flower buds simulates zygotic embryogenesis with no fecundation. In order to know the involvement of polyamines (PAs) in this process, we determined the concentration of endogenous PAs in flower buds and experimented the addition of various combinations of PA molecules in the medium.

Doubled haploid onion (Allium cepa L.) plants allow the production of completely homozygous lines for a later production of hybrids. The haploid plants are normally produced using in vitro gynogenesis. The obtained haploid plantlets must be treated with

Abstract Hybridization plays a pivotal role in evolution, influencing local adaptation and speciation. However, it can also reduce biodiversity, which is especially damaging when native and non‐native species meet. Hybridization can threaten native species via competition (with vigorous hybrids), reproductive resource wastage and gene introgression ...

Effect of Media on Gynogenesis Induction in Leek (allium ampeloprasum L.) Breeding Materials
Leek (Allium ampeloprasum L.) is one of the economically important members of the genus Allium (family:Alliaceae). It is a self-compatible, outbreeding, tetraploid (2n=4X= 32) crop species that is very difficult to improve through traditional breeding ...
