Influence of Acetic Acid on Gypseous Soil
Materials Science Forum, 2020Gypseous soil disturbed in many regions in the world. Existence of this soil with high gypsum content caused many damages to the buildings and structures that built on it due to dissolve and leaching of the gypsum slates by the flow of water through the soil mass. Therefore, it is necessary to study the properties of such soil.

Deformability of gypseous soil in Iraq
2009The main aim of this paper is to find the effect of soaking and to evaluate and document the natural and soaked deformabilities of compact Iraqi natural and soaked gypsiferous soils. In the text of this paper the two words gypseous and gypsiferous and the two words deformability and stiffness modulus are used interchangeably.

Compressibility Characteristics of Gypseous Sandy Soils
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1994Abstract Soils containing gypsum as a cementing agent are affected considerably when subjected to changes in water content. Seepage through sandy gypseous soil causes serious damage to foundations built on such soils. A testing program was conducted on undisturbed soil specimens with three different gypsum contents to study the ...

Treatment of collapse of gypseous soils by grouting
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Ground Improvement, 2013Gypseous soil is a collapsible soil, which causes large deformations in buildings that are constructed on it. Various methods have been used to minimise this effect, such as replacing the gypseous soil or using soil stabilisation (grouting or soil improvement).

Comparison between artificial gypseous soil with free gypsum soil
2018 1st International Scientific Conference of Engineering Sciences - 3rd Scientific Conference of Engineering Science (ISCES), 2018In this study, three samples of soils are prepared in the laboratory. The first sample is natural gypseous soil bring form Wady Sheshen region in Salahaddin governorate. The second sample Gzypsified soil prepared in laboratory as correct method and the third sample prepared by mixing of gypsum treated in a facility for building purposes with the same ...

Hydrogeological Properties of Gypseous soils in South Africa
South African Journal of Geology, 2019Abstract Gypseous soils occur in the western arid and semi-arid regions of South Africa and Namibia. These soils exhibit a complex nature and abnormal behaviour due to their gypsum content and as such they have become more prevalent in research.

Pullout capacity of single pile in gypseous soil
2018 1st International Scientific Conference of Engineering Sciences - 3rd Scientific Conference of Engineering Science (ISCES), 2018This study investigated the behavior of steel pile in gypseous soil with 30%, and 60% gypsum content in both dry and soaking cases when subjected to pure tension load. The comparison was made between the pullout capacities of that pile when embedded in both types of gypseous soils.

Geotechnical properties of lime-treated gypseous soils
Applied Clay Science, 2014Abstract This paper presents the results of an experimental research study on the behavior of gypseous soils treated with lime. The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of a wide range of gypsum content and curing conditions on two important geotechnical properties: the mechanical strength and swell potential of lime-treated fine-grained ...

Unpredictable Behaviour of Gypseous/Gypsiferous Soil: An Overview
Indian Geotechnical Journal, 2017Geo-climatic environmental conditions lead to the formation of gypsum-rich soils which occur in dry condition throughout world where the annual quantity of rain water is insufficient for leaching the gypsum from these soils. Soils containing gypsum, also known as gypseous/gypsiferous soil, are not preferred as a construction material; however, the ...
