Improving low‐pH and high‐aluminum field tolerance in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.)

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) is the fourth most valuable field crop in the United States. Alfalfa production is limited in regions predominated by acidic soils, including the southeastern United States. The purpose of this study was to characterize the effect of low‐pH soils on yield and fall dormancy ratings and select top performers for the ...

Potential Geographic Distribution of the Rare and Endangered Plant Sauvagesia rhodoleuca in China Under Climate Change Scenarios

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study used an optimized MaxEnt model to project the distribution of the endangered Chinese endemic Sauvagesia rhodoleuca. Under future climate scenarios, suitable habitat is expected to expand significantly and shift northward, with hydrothermal conditions as key drivers.

Characterization of the Wild Trees and Shrubs in the Fergana Valley: Diversity and Distribution, Threats

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
The content of this paper is significant because it presents the first comprehensive assessment of the dendroflora of the Fergana Valley, contributes to understanding species richness across biogeographic regions, and places the results in the context of Central Asian flora and global biodiversity studies.

Stemflows and Preferential Flows: A Historical Review and Challenges for the Future

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
Possible implementation of stemflow in the MIPS model where all water in the system is represented as particles in pathways of specified velocity. Stemflow (green particles) can be treated as a localised input with probabilities of entering higher velocity pathways than throughfall, depending on the input rates.
