Taxifolin Modulates Transcriptomic Response to Heat Stress in Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss
Taxifolin is a natural flavonoid known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiproliferative effects on animals. In this work, we have studied the effect of this compound on rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, a major object of aquaculture, under

Oil Things Bright and Beautiful? How Hydrocarbon Pollution Impacts Guppy Ornamentation
Spatial variation in crude oil pollution in Trinidad leads to differing levels of pollutant exposure in connected guppy populations. Male guppy ornamentation is an important sexually selected trait affected by environmental changes. Measuring area and intensity of this ornamentation, we found guppies from anthropogenically polluted habitats had greater

Description of three new species of Gyrodactylus von Nordmann, 1832 (Monogenea) parasitising Oreochromis niloticus niloticus (L.) and O. mossambicus (Peters) (Cichlidae) [PDF]
Three new species of Gyrodactylus are described from two species of Oreochromis (Cichlidae): Gyrodactylus hildae sp. nov. from the Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus niloticus, and from an unconfirmed cichlid in Ethiopia; Gyrodactylus ulinganisus sp ...

The accidental transfer of Gyrodactylus (Monogenea) during Short duration fish transportation [PDF]
The potential of parasite transfer to an alternative host during short periods of cohabitation was explored. The work described in this paper suggests that either the field sampling process itself or the subsequent transportation of multiple fish species

Evidence for cryptic speciation in directly transmitted gyrodactylid parasites of Trinidadian guppies. [PDF]
Cryptic species complexes are common among parasites, which tend to have large populations and are subject to rapid evolution. Such complexes may arise through host-parasite co-evolution and/or host switching.

This study presents a quantitative relationship between infestations of post‐smolt recruits and size‐structured returns of mature salmon to Norwegian rivers, suggesting that louse infestation from farms may reduce returns of spawners and re‐structure the size distribution of mature river populations of Atlantic salmon.

Gyrodactylus crysoleucas Two fragments, the first covering the 18S rDNA (442 bp) and the second covering the ITS regions (1,207 bp), were successfully sequenced for two gyrodactylid specimens from Texas, and the newly obtained sequences were found to be identical. nBLAST search indicated G.
