Constrained functionally graded gyroid structure for tunable energy absorption

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Gyroid metamaterials are promising for impact mitigation due to their high surface-to-volume ratio, smooth stress distribution, and tunable mechanical response.

Smaller feature size impairs densification in digital light processing 3D printed ceramic samples

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract In this study, we investigate how geometric miniaturization affects the sintering densification behavior of alumina cylinders with various wall thicknesses (down to ∼500 µm in green body) fabricated via digital light processing (DLP). As the wall thickness decreased, the density of the sintered samples consistently declined.

Experimental Studies of Fluid Flow Resistance in a Heat Exchanger Based on the Triply Periodic Minimal Surface

open access: yesEnergies
This study describes experimental data on 3D-printed compact heat exchangers. The heat exchanger is a prototype designed and manufactured additively using 3D printing in metal—AISI 316L steel.

Heat Exchange and Flow Resistance in a Heat Exchanger Based on a Minimal Surface of the Gyroid Type—Results of Experimental Studies

open access: yesEnergies
The gyroid minimal surface is one type of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS). TPMS is a minimal surface replicated in the three main directions of the Cartesian coordinate system.

Stimuli-responsive gyroid Scaffolds: hierarchical architecture and electric stimulation promote bone regeneration

open access: yesMaterials Today
Osteoporotic fractures in older adults place a significant burden on healthcare systems due to prolonged healing times and escalating costs. Innovative approaches closely mimicking the human bone microenvironment are paramount for advancing bone tissue regeneration.

Second‐Order Computational Homogenization of Nonlinear Fluid Flow Through Porous Media

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 1, 15 January 2026.
ABSTRACT We present a second‐order computational multiscale model for heterogeneous porous media, which allows for the scale bridging of transient fluid‐flow processes through porous materials with non‐separated scales. The formulation connects a homogenized macroscopic scale described by a local theory of grade two with heterogeneous microstructures ...
