Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

On some Opial-type inequalities

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2011
In the present paper we establish some new Opial-type inequalities involving higher-order partial derivatives. Our results in special cases yield some of the recent results on Opial's inequality and also provide new estimates on inequalities of this type.

The intracellular domain of TLR2 is capable of high‐affinity Zn binding: possible outcomes for the receptor activation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) are important in the innate immune system. This study explores the zinc‐binding ability of the TLR2 TIR domain (TLR2TIR). We found that TLR2TIR binds zinc with nanomolar affinity through its cysteine residues. Two of them, C673 and C713, are vital for receptor activation, indicating that zinc may play a role in initiating ...

On Minkowski's inequality and its application

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2011
In the paper, we first give an improvement of Minkowski integral inequality. As an application, we get new Brunn-Minkowski-type inequalities for dual mixed volumes.

Convergence Rate Analysis for Fixed-Point Iterations of Generalized Averaged Nonexpansive Operators [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We estimate convergence rates for fixed-point iterations of a class of nonlinear operators which are partially motivated from solving convex optimization problems. We introduce the notion of the generalized averaged nonexpansive (GAN) operator with a positive exponent, and provide a convergence rate analysis of the fixed-point iteration of the GAN ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

On generalized Milne type inequalities for new conformable fractional integrals

open access: yesFilomat
In this study, we first obtained a new identity for differentiable convex functions with the help of new conformable fractional integrals. Then, using this identity, we proved new Milne-type inequalities for new conformable fractional integrals.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Unitarily invariant norms related to factors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
Let $\M$ be a semi-finite factor and let $\J(\M)$ be the set of operators $T$ in $\M$ such that $T=ETE$ for some finite projection $E$. In this paper we obtain a representation theorem for unitarily invariant norms on $\J(\M)$ in terms of Ky Fan norms.

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.
