Experience With Performing Rheocarna Therapy via the Single‐Needle Method for Treatment of Chronic Limb‐Threatening Ischemia

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study investigated the safety and efficacy of single‐needle Rheocarna therapy for chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) with wounds. Methods Six patients with CLTI involving ulcers unresponsive to revascularization underwent single‐needle Rheocarna treatment.

H-mode characteristics and first experimental results of current drive with electron cyclotron waves on EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Reproducible H-mode plasmas with electron cyclotron (EC) waves as the sole auxiliary heating tool have been achieved recently on EAST in a broad range of plasma parameters with an ITER-like tungsten divertor.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

High confinement regimes on SPARC: operational conditions for access and avoidance

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
This work examines H-mode and I-mode access on the SPARC tokamak, combining new simulations of core L-mode power balance with the best empirical scalings available for L–H and L–I thresholds.

Comparison of MHD stability properties between QH-mode and ELMy H-mode plasmas by considering plasma rotation and ion diamagnetic drift effects

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stability at tokamak edge pedestal in a quiescent H-mode (QH-mode) and type-I ELMy H-mode plasmas in DIII-D experiment was analyzed by considering plasma rotation and ion diamagnetic drift effects.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

H-mode. Physics and prospects.

open access: yesKakuyūgō kenkyū, 1988
The H-mode has been recognized to be a universal phenom ena in tokamaks with various heating methods. In this article, we present a model picture for the H-mode from the experimental/theoretical view point putting an emphasis on the causality among many H-mode-related observations. Based on the model, the improvements and obstacles caused by the H-mode

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Neural network identification of the weakly coherent mode in I-mode discharge on EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
The improved energy confinement mode (I-mode) is widely considered as an important operation regime for ITER. I-mode implementation depends on the specified basic plasma parameters and certain operation conditions, which are discovered by statistical ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
