Energy and particle confinement in JET H-mode plasma
Nuclear Fusion, 2020This work describes the behaviour of the global energy and particle confinement on JET observed in a massive database of H-mode plasmas covering almost whole lifetime of JET operations, both with carbon and metal wall. The analysis is focused on type I ELMy H-modes in stationary phases.

Improved Particle Confinement with Resonant Magnetic Perturbations in DIII-D Tokamak H-Mode Plasmas
Physical Review Letters, 2022Experiments on the DIII-D tokamak have identified a novel regime in which applied resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) increase the particle confinement and overall performance. This Letter details a robust range of counter-current rotation over which RMPs cause this density pump-in effect for high confinement (H mode) plasmas.

Confinement and ELM characteristics of H-mode plasmas in KSTAR
Nuclear Fusion, 2012Abstract The latest results of confinement and edge-localized mode (ELM) characteristics of Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) H-mode plasmas are reported. The estimation of fast ion contribution to the total stored energy, calculated by both the NUBEAM and ASTRA simulations, and of the effective total heating power ...

Transition dynamics and confinement scaling in COMPASS-D H mode plasmas
Nuclear Fusion, 2001An experimental analysis is discussed of different phases of ECRH H?mode discharges on COMPASS-D, from L-H transition triggering to steady state. Comprehensive high resolution measurements in the transport barrier region have enabled significant progress to be made in assessing H?mode transition models, together with additional experiments aimed at ...

Plasma confinement in JET H mode plasmas with H, D, DT and T isotopes
Nuclear Fusion, 1999The scaling of the energy confinement in H mode plasmas with different hydrogenic isotopes (hydrogen, deuterium, DT and tritium) is investigated in JET. For ELM-free H modes the thermal energy confinement time τth is found to decrease weakly with the isotope mass (τth ~M-0.25±0.22), whilst in ELMy H modes the energy confinement time shows practically ...

Characteristics of global energy confinement in KSTAR L- and H-mode plasmas
Nuclear Fusion, 2014We evaluate the characteristics of global energy confinement in KSTAR (?E,KSTAR) quantitatively in three ways; firstly by comparing it with multi-machine scalings, secondly by deriving multiple regression equations for the L- and the H-mode plasmas, respectively, and lastly by comparing confinement enhancement of the H-mode phase with respect to the L ...
