Functional comparison of EncB and EncC cargo proteins in iron storage within the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Surfaces with defective tangential varieties

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2001
Surfaces with h-defective tangential varieties are classified for any h. Smooth surfaces with this property are pointed out. It is shown that varieties of osculating (of any order) to curves are not defective.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Holomorphic curves and minimal surfaces in Kähler manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes
Our work is concerned with the relation between a complex differential geometric property, namely holomorphicity, and a metric one, namely to be conformal and minimal, of immersions (possibly branched) of Riemann surfaces into Kahler manifolds. A well

Symplectic Applicability of Lagrangian Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We develop an approach to affine symplectic invariant geometry of Lagrangian surfaces by the method of moving frames. The fundamental invariants of elliptic Lagrangian immersions in affine symplectic four-space are derived together with their ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Geodesic Boundary of Parabolic Surfaces and Existence of H-Fillable Curves in H2×R

open access: yesMathematics
This article provides a geometric characterization of the geodesic boundary for surfaces invariant under parabolic isometries in H2×R. We present an alternative, constructive proof for the existence of minimal surfaces with rectangular asymptotic ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

SCALe-invariant Integral Surfaces

open access: yes, 2013
Extraction of skeletons from solid shapes has attracted quite a lot of attention, but less attention was paid so far to the reverse operation: generating smooth surfaces from skeletons and local radius information. Convolution surfaces, i.e.

Niobium Nitride Cavitation Erosion Resistance: An Approach on the Gas Mixture Influence in Plasma Nitrided Niobium Surfaces

open access: yesCeramics
This work shows an approach on the role of the gas mixture used in the pulsed DC plasma nitriding aiming to enhance the niobium cavitation erosion resistance through the formation of niobium nitride on the treated surfaces.
