Embedding Protection Inside H.264/AVC and SVC Streams

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2010
A backward compatible error-protection mechanism embedded into the H.264 (AVC or SVC) syntax is described. It consists of the addition into the H.264 bitstream of supplementary network abstraction layer (NAL) units that contain forward error-correction (

Fire Detection in H.264 Compressed Video

open access: yesICASSP 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2019
In this paper, we propose a compressed domain fire detection algorithm using macroblock types and Markov Model in H.264 video. Compressed domain method does not require decoding to pixel domain, instead a syntax parser extracts syntax elements which are only available in compressed domain.
